In addition to the eight inductees above, the late Norma and Douglas
Shearer received the inaugural Canadian Legends Award sponsored by Cineplex
Entertainment and Universal Studios Canada. This new award is given
posthumously to Canadian pioneers in film, music, sport, arts, and innovation.
As part of their continuing recognition of Canadian film, Cineplex
Entertainment and Universal Studios Canada are proud to sponsor this new award
as well as Canada’s Walk of Fame.
After six years on the board of directors for Canada’s Walk of Fame,
Bonnie Brownlee, senior vice president of corporate communications for CTV
Inc. has seen the organization grow significantly. “Thanks to the tireless
efforts of a small group of driven people, Canada’s Walk of Fame is
celebrating 10 years in style. As I step down from the Chair position I’ve
held for the past two years, I can’t help but envision where we’ll be in
another 10 years. This year’s celebrations are just the tip of the iceberg.”
The red carpet portion of the evening was just the beginning. After
unveiling their stars on the red carpet, the inductees were feted in full at a
gala tribute ceremony inside the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
With presentations from the likes of Sigourney Weaver, Linda Evangelista, Colm
Feore, Jeanne Beker and Julie Bowen, the award ceremony was a star-studded
celebration of Canadian talent and innovation.
Filmed live by CTV – proud broadcast partner since 2005 – the Canada’s
Walk of Fame gala tribute ceremony will air on Sunday, September 7 at 7 p.m.
EST on CTV stations across the country.
